Women's Health
Your Health is my priority – Hormonal harmony
Women's health is a multifaceted subject encompassing a wide range of conditions and concerns that affect women throughout their lives..
As a woman I am passionate about treating all aspects of women’s health. This ranges from issues such as fertility, pregnancy symptoms, menopausal/ perimenopausal symptoms, menstrual disorders & gynaecological issues. I am experienced in these areas both as a practitioner & in some cases from a personal perspective.
My original degree was in Medical Biochemistry and I worked as a chartered accountant for over 20 years before experiencing stress and burnout. Western medicine suppressed my symptoms but led to side effects and failed to resolve the underlying issues. It was after a course of acupuncture that I finally felt a sense of peace and calm again and was able to feel true connection, both with myself and others. I was so passionate about my own outcome that I wanted to train as an acupuncturist myself so that I could share its benefits with others.
Education
I A growing body of evidence-based clinical research is discovering how the body responds to acupuncture and its benefits for a wide range of common health conditions. Many people have acupuncture to relieve specific aches and pains such as osteoarthritis of the knee, TMJ pain, headaches and low back pain, or for common health problems like an overactive bladder.
Other people choose acupuncture when they can feel their bodily functions are out of balance but have no obvious western medical diagnosis leading to Western medical treatment. Many also have regular treatments simply because they find it beneficial and relaxing. The focus for a traditional acupuncturist is on the patient as an individual and not just their specific illness, and all symptoms are seen as part of an interconnected pattern. Treatment involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points which are said to affect the flow of your body’s qi, or vital energy, although there is ongoing research and study which suggests what many practitioners already know: that inserting needles into the channels (or meridians) affects change within the human body, and the term ‘energy’ is rather simplistic.
Menstrual/Hormonal Issues
Acupuncture can treat a wide range of issues from irregular periods, painful periods, heavy periods, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids and more. Acupuncture can help to regulate hormones and, in turn, the menstrual cycle.
Fertility
Acupuncture can help with fertility issues as a standalone treatment where a couple are simply struggling to conceive or where there are underlying health issues such as endometriosis or PCOS. Acupuncture is also frequently used in conjunction with assisted fertility such as IVF or ICSI. It helps to regulate hormones, improve blood flow to the reproductive organs and reduce stress. I am experienced in working with fertility.

Pregnancy
Acupuncture can support a healthy pregnancy, help with morning sickness, aches and pains, reflux, oedema and far more. Did you know that acupuncture can even be used to turn breech babies and to induce labour naturally? It can also help with post partum issues. Acupuncture is completely safe during pregnancy as long as you make me aware that you may be pregnant.
Perimenopause/Menopause
Acupuncture can help with many issues associated with menopause and perimenopause. It can alleviate hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, calm anger, help with sleep, restless legs and far more. Acupuncture can safely be used alongside HRT, help those who aren’t able to take HRT or those who wish to choose a more natural way of managing their symptoms.
