About Rachel

Rachel Marston BSc (Hons), Lic.Ac., M.B.Ac.C. F.E.A.

My name is Rachel and I am a fully qualified, traditional acupuncturist and facial enhancement acupuncturist working from a quiet and relaxing clinic in Barton under Needwood, Staffordshire, situated close to Burton upon Trent, Derby, Tamworth, Uttoxeter and Lichfield.

My original degree was in Medical Biochemistry and I worked as a chartered accountant for over 20 years before experiencing stress and burnout. Western medicine suppressed my symptoms but led to side effects and failed to resolve the underlying issues. It was after a course of acupuncture that I finally felt a sense of peace and calm again and was able to feel true connection, both with myself and others. I was so passionate about my own outcome that I wanted to train as an acupuncturist myself so that I could share its benefits with others.

I trained at The Acupuncture Academy in Leamington Spa and hold a Professional Licentiate in Acupuncture, which is a three year degree level qualification accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board.   My training was comprehensive and covered all aspects of Chinese medical and acupuncture theory, anatomy, biomedicine, and clinical skills. The training had a focus on Five Element Acupuncture which means that I treat the person as a whole at mind, body, spirit level in preference to focusing on symptoms alone. This means that patients often see improvements in many areas of their health and wellbeing, such as improved energy, sleep or motivation, as well as their presenting complaint.

I see people for many conditions and symptoms such as pain (musculoskeletal, arthritis, sciatica etc.), headaches and migraines, perimenopause/menopause symptoms, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, menstrual issues, fertility, pregnancy complaints, skin/lung/heart conditions and digestive issues (IBS, heartburn, indigestion, constipation, diarrhoea). I have a special interest in mental and emotional health including stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, PTSD, addiction and grief.

I am also a qualified Facial Enhancement Acupuncturist offering cosmetic acupuncture. This improves facial muscle tone and dermal contraction, increases natural collagen production, helps to reduce/eliminate eyebags, eliminates swelling, helps eliminate fine lines and significantly reduces large wrinkles, refreshes and brightens the eyes, reduces stress evident on the face, helps to reduce skin pigmentation, reduces acne and promotes general health and wellbeing. This is combined with Celluma Light Therapy which has anti-aging properties. the treatment is finished with a facial massage using healing serums and creams.

Alongside Traditional acupuncture, I am also qualified in Moxibustion, Cupping, Tui Na massage, auricular acupuncture (including ear seeds as an alternative to needling) and Gua-sha and use these additional tools in treatment when appropriate.

As a member of the British Acupuncture Council I adhere to the Council’s Codes of Safe Practice and Professional conduct. British Acupuncture Council members are also registered with the Professional Standards Authority which is a government body set up to regulate health and social care providers and is accountable to Parliament.

My clinic is licensed by East Staffordshire Borough Council and I hold full medical malpractice and public/products liability insurance cover with the British Acupuncture Council.
